34 weeks...

I had another appointment today & everything is still going good.  Here are some facts about pregnancy at 34 weeks.

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he's born — are filling him out, making him rounder.
His skin is also smoother than ever.
His central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well.
If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies. (That makes ya feel good to read!)

The white, waxy coating protecting your baby's skin (vernix) thickens this week.

The soft downy hair (lanugo) that insulated your baby's skin so effectively for months is now almost gone.

Your baby's fingernails have reached the tip of his fingers.

Your baby might gain about a half a pound this week as his weight continues to build quickly

Who is ready for summer?



K is ready to start wearing her swimsuits.  She wore this one outside the other night but I made her at least put a jacket on as well. 



K looked so sweet taking her nap I couldn't help but take a picture.

33 weeks...

33 weeks as of Tuesday.  I really can't believe we have made it this far but am so very thankful we have.

Baby weighs a little over 4 pounds & around 17" in length. About the size of a pineapple.  Start gaining about half a pound a week.
He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening.
The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.)
These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
The pupils of her eyes can now adjust to bright or dim light, just like yours.
Your amniotic fluid has reached its maximum level now — there's simply no more room! With less fluid to cushion them, your baby's kicks might feel a bit uncomfortable.

32 weeks now.  Pretty exciting considering K was a month old already.

Baby weighs approx. 3.75 pounds & is about 16.7 inches long
You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby.
He'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb.
He now has real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz).
His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth.

New pet...

Oh yes the other treat for going #2 on the potty.  2 fish!  J promised her she could get some fish once she kept going on the potty & the other afternoon she reminded us of that.  So we headed back to GB to get her fish.  She is thrilled with him.  Takes her about 5 minutes to tell them bye when we leave & goodnight.  She likes to just watch them.  She also moves her mouth like the fish.  Hopefully these last for awhile because we really don't need to loose another pet anytime soon.

K's treat for going #2 on the potty.  This was the first time she got gum.  She was really proud of herself.  J even had to take her to the store one night after 8 to let her pick some out.  She will chew the same piece for hours. 

Taken over...

No babies items are safe in our house now.  K has taken over everything she can get her hands on.  We couldn't get her or her babies out of the bassinet for a few days. 

Potty training in action.  Nothing like some cheer ios while you sit on the potty.  This was Friday evening while we were outside.  I was too tired to keep running her back into the house so we brought the potty outside.  K has learned now how to potty outside though so she can still play at the shed. 

Doctor's appointment went good again today.  So that made for a good day.  He is almost 4 lbs already.  Still breach at this point but that can change at anytime.  If he doesn't flip on his own the doctor said he could try to move him in a few weeks.  If not we will just have a c-section.  Not too excited about that just because you have to stay at hospital longer & longer recovery but whatever it takes to get him here safely.  I am at 32 weeks now & once we get around 35 weeks we can deliver for sure in GB so that will be great.   

We are back...

We are back & enjoying this nice weather again.  We have been potty training for over a week now so that has kept us busy busy busy.  We are praying she can keep up the good work so we can be over this hurdle.  And also so we aren't buying diapers for 2 kiddos!  Plus we are trying to get in every minute we can with little Miss before little brother arrives.  We have pulled out the treager & have been eating & playing outside as much as possible.  We just love this little girl so much.  Everyday she keeps us laughing especially with her stories getting longer & longer.  And her imagination getting bigger & bigger.  Funny story from this week. 
My dad told her not to pick her nose & she replied back that she wasn't picking her nose she was getting a booger out.

Update on baby brother...

My appointment went good again this morning.  Little guy is behaving & staying put.  I am not going to go back in for two weeks.  Figured I am far enough along now & I know what signs to look for if I do need to go in.  We will have a regular sonogram to check on the baby again next time so that is always fun.  Hopefully it works out this next time to take K along as well. 

New Game..

J & I got out a game Sunday afternoon to play while K took her nap.  It was my grandparents game that I played at their house all the time.  So thankful it ended up at my house now.  We didn't end our game soon enough though because K made it downstairs before we could put it away.  She played with the board & marbles for most of the evening.  It will be fun to teach her how to play in a few years.

30 weeks...

30 weeks as of today.  Yippie!  We are so excited to finally reach 30 weeks.  It was our goal & we have reached it so our next goal is to get to full term so we can have the baby in Great Bend & bring it home with us.

Baby is about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds.  About the size of a head of cabbage.
From this week until week 37 of pregnancy, your baby gains an impressive half a pound a week!
A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus.
His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
Your baby might be practicing breathing movements as he rhythmically moves his diaphragm. You even might notice a slight twitching in your abdomen when this happens.
Your baby's brain continues to expand and develop, creating additional grooves and folds in the brain's surface. These wrinkles give your baby's brain tissue the needed room to expand as he develops and learns throughout his lifetime.
Your baby's brain can now regulate his temperature, so he begins to lose the lanugo — fine hair that has been covering his body for warmth.

Anytime anyone asks lately about K's baby brother she tells them that she will be taking care of him.  I heard her asking my friend the other day if she could hold their 6 month old & she was really serious about it.  My friend sit & held the little guy next to K on the couch so she could put her arm around him.  She was happy enough with that. 

So thankful for some nice weather.  Puts everyone in a better mood around our house.
